The first observation watches, also known as B watches, are the seam-like models developed by the English watchmaker John Harrison in the 18th century. They were a decisive step forward in nautical navigation. In the course of time the observing clocks were used mainly in the military area, where they were used to determine the location and navigation, the temporal coordination of procedures and the observance of timelines. With the 856 B-clock, Sinn attaches to this tradition and transmits the characteristic, historically appealing appearance of a B-clock into a comfortable diameter of 40 mm.
As is customary with the traditional B watches, the hour hand is also intentionally taken back at the 856 B watch. It points to a separate inner clock circle, while the dominant minute pointer overshadows the external minutiae. This minute hand, like the digits, indices and the main mark in the form of a triangle arrow, is highlighted by an ivory-colored assignment. The arrangement of the hour hand and the minute hand on the black dial follows historical guidelines: the minute was in use the more important time unit, their recording had to be done quickly and unequivocally.
The state-of-the-art technological equipment fulfills all criteria placed on an observation clock: functionality, robustness, readability, precision and reliability. Thus, the pearl-blasted stainless steel housing was surface-hardened with the TEGIMENT technology and is thus particularly scratch-resistant. The Ar-dry retention technique guarantees the safety and security of the fittings. To minimize magnetic interference, the 856 B clock is equipped with a magnetic field protection of up to 80,000 A / m or 100 mT. This unusual watch appears in a limited edition of 856 copies with an engraved limit marking on the bottom of the case.
